If you are interested in improving your health, fitness and quality of life then the Surrey Trekkers is for you. We are a group of all ages who share this interest and enjoy walking as members of a Volkssport club. Volkssporting affords us with opportunities for adventure in active living, healthy recreation, fellowship and fun. Since all our walking events are non-competitive and without stress of speed or strains of endurance, they are fun. We enjoy the exercise at our own pace and we are all winners at the end of the event.
The fun goes far beyond the walking itself. Much of the fun is in the adventure of walking in new areas around the province and particularly in the Lower Mainland. If you are a traveler, you can enjoy walking adventures in over twenty countries around the world. There is no better way to see and enjoy the many diversified aspects of our region than spending a couple of hours walking through them.
Have you been to the Othello Tunnels? Seymour Demonstration Forest? Norvan Falls? Bear Creek Park? Tynehead Park? Elgin Heritage Park? Semiahmoo Trail? Crescent Park? Pacific Spirit Regional Park? Or have you ever taken the time to walk along the shoreline at Jericho and Kitsilano Beaches? Or a walk around the end of Burrard Inlet at Rocky Point, the seawall at Stanley Park or around the seawalls at False Creek? Have you viewed the heritage houses in New Westminster or Panorama Ridge? These are just a few of the beautiful and interesting areas that you will visit and enjoy with a congenial group of Surrey Trekkers on every Saturday, Sunday and holiday throughout the year.
And the fun doesn't stop there. Often there are "after walk" activities such as spontaneous group lunches with your new friends at the nearest pub. Or it might be a potluck picnic in a park or at a beach. It might be the poolside barbecue party that the club has sponsored for several years. A Xmas Lights walk followed by a little "cheer" and potluck dinner adds to the festive season.
Yes, walking with the Surrey Trekkers is fun so "Come walk with us" and have fun, improve your fitness and make new friendships.
