Volkssporting

The Surrey Trekkers Volkssport Club is a non-profit organization providing its members and other interested individuals with an opportunity to enjoy Volkssporting activities. The Club adheres to the rules of the Canadian Volkssport Federation (CVF/FCV) which in turn is a member of the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV).

The Club organizes Volkswalks or event walks, guided walks and year-round events in Surrey, BC and adjacent municipalities. The Club cooperates with the other Volkssport clubs in the Lower Mainland area of BC to develop a schedule of walks for all weekends and holidays throughout the year.

Most members participate in the IVV "Awards" program which entails recording, in an IVV booklet, the events and distances walked. Certificates, pins and patches are awarded following completion of progress levels of achievement. Participants walk for fun, fitness and friendship at their own pace in a non-competitive environment. Picnics, barbecues or potlucks following some walks add to the friendship aspects of the activity.
